Exploring Creativity through Digital Storytelling.
At UNC I have had the opportunity to take a variety of course that have expanded my toolbox in media and journalism. Among them, was MEJO 121: Introduction to Digital Storytelling. In this class, I gained hands-on experience with tools and techniques that have expanded the way I think about creativity and communication. I learned how to use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit and shape video, sound design, and a narrative visually. Through Adobe Photoshop, I practiced working with layers, color, and digital imagery to create effective visual stories.
Along with this, I learned how to use Atom AI and HTML/CSS, which allowed me to code and design my own website from the ground up. Building pages, styling layouts, and understanding how structure and design work together taught me how storytelling is more than just words.
Throughout the course, I explored how lighting, framing, audio, and editing all influence the meaning of a story. More than anything, it gave me the chance to grow creatively. I had never used these platforms or techniques before, and now I feel equipped with skills I know will continue to serve me in the future.
