Hi!
I’m Emily Norman, a student at UNC Chapel Hill graduating in May 2027. I am majoring in Media and Journalism with a focus in advertising and public relations, and minoring in economics. I’ve always been drawn to creative work, and much of my life has been shaped by exploring different forms of artistic expression.
From elementary school through high school, I took a variety of art classes that introduced me to acrylic and oil painting, pastel work, and techniques such as blending, shading, and layering to create depth and texture. These early experiences helped me find a creative outlet I loved and taught me how to express ideas in ways that feel authentic and intentional.
Music has also been an important part of my life. I started with violin in elementary school, later learned piano and ukulele, and now play guitar as well. Piano has been my most consistent instrument, I’ve played for about 12 years, and my favorite piece to play is Comptine d’un autre été by Yann Tiersen.
Today, I continue growing creatively through visual storytelling, design, and digital media. Outside of academics and creative work, I stay involved on campus through Alpha Phi, Club Swim team, Business Cares Club, and Carolina Women in Business, which allow me to stay active, meet new people, and engage with the UNC community.
