The MEJO 332: Public Relations Writing course has given me an opportunity to showcase my writing through real-world applications. I love mixing my creativity and writing skills to make a difference in my surrounding community, as well as to communicate with the public. I’m appreciative of what this course has taught me and how it has prepared me for my future endeavors!
Over the course of this semester, I had the opportunity to work with GiGi’s Playhouse Raleigh, a Down syndrome center dedicated to providing free programs for individuals and families. Through my service-learning course, I created a variety of strategic communication projects, including social media content, event-focused messaging, and press materials. Working with this organization deepened my understanding of community-based communication and allowed me to support a mission centered on inclusion and lifelong empowerment.
